TRI-COUNTY CONEWAGO CREEK ASSOCIATION LAWN FIRE DEPARTMENT – October 30, 2002, 7:00 PM MEETING MINUTES I. Welcome and Call to Order II. Secretary's Report III. Treasurer's Report There have been dues amounts of $50.00 deposited. Profits from the September Art Sale netted $277.00. This brings the balance to $949.04. IV. Projects and Activities Report Stoffel Planting Project: ? Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Bill Stoffel have signed a 15-year agreement to plant 1320 feet section of the creek. CBF will monitor three test plots of various field grasses and plants. TCCCA's first planting project will be scheduled in the spring to plant 200 trees and shrubs. Lebanon High School Stream Survey (October 3): ? Lebanon High School biology teacher, Ralph Heister, has done a brief assessment at four locations on the Conewago. He has volunteered to write up their final assessment and to share it at a future TCCCA meeting. Lancaster County Watershed Forum (October 5): ? Tom Murray gave a brief presentation on the TCCCA at the Lancaster County Watershed Forum. Another item of note is that Franklin & Marshall College will be setting up a monitoring program…any interest? Lebanon Valley Rails-to-Trails Grand Opening (October 26): ? This event held at the Lawn Fire Hall, was very well attended by community members and local politicians. Many local conservation clubs and groups had informational displays, including TCCCA. Watershed Assessment Update ? Interviews were held on October 9th and October 16th for an environmental consulting firm. The firms of Skelley & Loy and Rettew Associates were interviewed for the stream assessment project. The Board has yet to meet to discuss. ? Lebanon County Watershed Forum: November 9th, 9am – noon ? Susquehanna Greenway Planning and Design Workshop: November 8th-9th ? DEP Grants Fair: November 14th, 2pm – 6:30pm ? Controlling Invasive Plants Workshop: December 6th V. New Business ? Native Plant Nursery – Local college and/or high school ? The Coalition of Eastern PA Abandoned Mines has donated recently out-of-date computers to environmental groups and TCCCA has been approved. ? WREN Grant – TCCCA has retained a consultant for brochure and web design ? DEP Stormwater Policy – needs to have municipal "buy-in" VI. Open Discussion VII.
