TRI-COUNTY CONEWAGO CREEK ASSOCIATION SEPTEMBER 30, 2002 MEETING, 6:00 PM AGENDA I. Stream Assessment Demonstration Jen Hoffman, Aquatic Biologist from the Susquehanna River Basin Commission, led this on-the-stream meeting. Jen demonstrated the protocol for stream sampling that was used by the SRBC. The demonstration was held on the Stoffel property. Macroinvertebrates identified included: sow bug, mayfly, dragonfly, stonefly, riffle beetle, water penny, caddisfly and cranefly. This stream stretch graded out as high-end marginal. Additional business was not reported on, but was distributed as follows: II. Projects and Activities Report ? Stoffel Property Project: -- prep day, Saturday September 28th -- planting tentatively scheduled for early to mid October Native grasses, plants and trees will be planted along the creek on Bill and Carol Stoffel's property in an effort to displace non-native multiflora rose. The site was cleared on the 28th in preparation for the planting. 12 TCCCA volunteers had a very productive morning of work! ? Lebanon County Watershed Forum: November 9th, 9am – noon Lebanon Valley Expo Center. Call Stephanie Harmon, 272-3908 ext. 4 for more details. ? Lebanon Valley Rails-to-Trail Grand Opening: October 26th, 10 am. TCCCA will have a display at the grand opening event at the Lawn Fire Hall. Volunteers to work the booth are needed. ? WREN Grant projects: web and brochure designer has been retained. ? Landowner Database: should be completed by November. Tom Murray and Elizabethtown College intern are actively engaged in this project. ? Lebanon High School Biology Class (teacher Ralph Heister): Baseline study of Conewago. Sampling will take place October 3. Students will complete written study and present it to TCCCA. III. Funding Report ? Art Show Fundraiser, September 21-22. Earned $155 - $270 (depending on the size of donation from one artist) ? Growing Greener Grant: $5000 for startup costs. Paperwork has been completed. Once contract is signed by DEP, can begin work. IV. Board of Directors Update Watershed Assessment: consultants are being interviewed for potential Growing Greener grant application.
