Development and Distribution of Educational Brochures

Funded by a grant from the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania’s Citizen Education Fund, which is being administered by our sponsor, Lancaster County Conservation District, TCCCA is in the process of developing two educational brochures for distribution to residents of the Watershed.

The first brochure will highlight the importance of stream bank fencing and establishing forested riparian buffers along the Conewago and its tributaries. The brochure will provide individuals with basic information about the many stream bank fencing and planting programs available to landowners. These programs will pay 100% of the cost of installing the fencing and plantings, and some will even allow farmers to earn additional money simply be letting the fenced off areas grow! TCCCA can provide important services to farmers and other landowners, such as volunteer labor to plant trees and maintain the plantings so that they become established.

The second brochure will contain a detailed map and guide of the Conewago Creek Watershed and highlight the many recreational opportunities available in the Watershed. It also will list easy ways for you to protect your watershed in your daily activities.

Watershed residents should look for these brochures in the mail sometime soon. If you do not receive them but would like a copy of one or both of the brochures, just contact TCCCA and we will be happy to send them to you.
