Hertzler/Gibbs
Riparian Planting Project, Fall 2004.
In October 2004, TCCCA participated in a riparian planting project with
landowners along Brills Run in Conewago Township, Dauphin County. The
Hertzler family has farmed in Conewago and Londonderry Townships,
Dauphin County, for several generations. Kristen Hertzler Gibbs
and her husband Dave live along Brills Run, a tributary of the Conewago
that runs through Hertzler pasture. TCCCA and the Dauphin County
Conservation District worked with the Hertzlers and Gibbses to fence
their heifers out of the lower portion of the pasture along the creek.
In the fall of 2004, TCCCA volunteers, including several Elizabethtown
College students and a work crew organized by Nathan Gerard, a
prospective Eagle Scout, helped Dave plant approximately 200 trees along
the creek.
