Watershed Assessment and Restoration Plan
In 2003, TCCCA received a $75,000 grant from the Environmental Protection
Agency Section 319 Program
to conduct a comprehensive watershed assessment and restoration plan for
the Conewago Creek Watershed. TCCCA has retained RETTEW Associates of
Lancaster to conduct the project. When finished, it will be the most
complete and comprehensive study of the Conewago to date, involving
GIS-linked aerial photography of the entire watershed and an in depth
survey of riparian land uses and existing physical conditions of the
stream.
The watershed assessment and restoration
plan will serve as TCCCA's blueprint to restore water quality in the
Conewago Creek and its tributaries. The plan will prioritize
segments of the stream for restoration projects. TCCCA will look to
work with willing landowners to implement priority projects. With an
assessment and restoration plan in place, TCCCA will increase its chances
of securing future funding for implementation projects.
