In spring 2025, TCCCA worked with Friends in Action to restore an eroding stormwater channel into a wetland bioswale and native meadow.

How is it doing a year later? The short answer: it’s thriving!

The swale and its wetland step pools are stable and managing stormwater in a manner that slows down water and minimizes the erosion from the channel. The native meadow grasses and wildflowers are growing strong and tall, and providing all kinds of habitat for birds and insects. At a stop in July, monarchs and many other butterfly species were enjoying the space!

Thanks also to EPA and the PA DEP for funding this project through the Section 319 program, consultant Spring Hill Partners providing design, planting, and construction oversight, Commander Construction for constructing the project, and many volunteers for planting wetland plugs!
