TCCCA is partnering with the Penn State Greening the Lower Susquehanna Program and the Hertzler family to organize a buffer maintenance day at the Hertzler Buffer on November 4. This 20+ old buffer along Brills Run is the impressive legacy of longtime TCCCA Board member John Hertzler. It needs some help fighting off invasive shrubs and vines. It is a marvelous place to see; the trees have formed a forest and the stream is repairing itself!
Volunteers are needed on November 4 to identify (Penn State experts will teach you!) and cut the invasive plants so that professionals can follow behind and apply small amounts of herbicide to the cut stumps. Penn State staff will be out there all day (10AM – 4PM) and would love any help they can get. Come for the whole day or just an hour!
