Hertzler Farm Project

Hertzler Buffer Aug 2020

In October 2004, TCCCA volunteers, including several Elizabethtown College students and an Eagle Scout work crew, helped plant approximately 200 trees along Brills Run on the Hertzler farm.  In the fall of 2009, an additional 12 acres was enrolled in the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program.  TCCCA partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation to help plant the trees.  Since then, John Hertzler, a member of the TCCCA board, has planted many additional trees to enhance the buffer.  Another four acres of the farm was reforested under the USDA’s Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program.
